Produce of India: Shikakai is a climbing shrub native to Asia, common in the warm plains of central and south India.
History: shikekai is also known as ‘shika’ in Tamil, which basically means “fruit for hair.” It is a shrub-like tree. Astonishingly, it has a long history in Ayurveda treating hair problems like gray hair, dandruff, dull hair, etc. Shikakai literally translates to hair fruit and has been used as a natural shampoo for a long time. This powder can be mixed with water and can be applied directly on hair. However this does not produce enough lather as a typical shampoo.
Active Ingredients: Lupeol, spinasterol, acedic acid, lactone, and the natural sugars glucose, arabinose and rhamnose are present in Shikakai.
