Produce of India: Uttar Pradesh is the largest producer of Amla in India. Tamil Nadu is the second largest amla producing state in India followed by Madhya Pradesh. Himachal Pradesh & and Rajasthan also produce amla.
History: Amla is native to the subtropical South Asian countries of India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. Amla is grown in tropical desert areas of India and is commercially produced in northern India. During World War II powder, candies and tablets made from dried Amla were given to Indian soldiers as a vitamin C supplement.
