Produce of India:
- Hirda: It is found in the Sub Himalayan region from Ravi eastwards to West Bengal and Assam. This tree is wild in forests of Northern India, central provinces and Bengal, common in Madras, Mysore and in the southern part of the Bombay presidency.
- Behda : Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Kerala, Gujrat, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Punjab are major Bahera growing states in India.
- Amla: Uttar Pradesh is the largest producer of Amla in India. Tamil Nadu is the second largest amla producing state in India followed by Madhya Pradesh. Himachal Pradesh & and Rajasthan also produce amla
History:Triphala is an Ayurvedic mixture of the three dried fruits namely Amla, Baheda and Hirada. Since it is made up of “three fruits”, it derived the name ‘Tri’ meaning three – ‘phala’ meaning fruits in that context. This 1000-year-old plant-based formula is most commonly used for gastrointestinal complications In Ayurveda, Triphala is also known as the Tridoshic Rasayana. Doshas are life forces constituted from the five basic elements that every human is believed to be made of – space, air, fire, water, earth. They are responsible for a person’s physiological, emotional and psychological health. The three doshas are Kapha, Vata and Pitta. In case of excess of Kapha and Pitta, Triphala controls and moderates the two in the body to reach optimum levels.
